Adding a YouTube Video to a Component

Let’s say your experiment involves gauging student response to, or learning from, two different videos. This page walks you through the process of adding a video.

Do not attempt to add your video to the “Instructions or descriptions (optional)” field, as it doesn’t allow for proper formatting of hyperlinks.

The question field does allow for hyperlinks, and for embedded videos.

After clicking into the treatment you’d like to edit, choose the type of question you’d like to add. You can add a video to any of the three types.

The question field for each type will look the same; the answer inputs for students change. On the bottom right of the question field, you’ll see a button with an arrow.

When you click this button, a box pops up where you can add embed code from YouTube.

To grab this code, use a new tab or window to navigate to the YouTube video you’d like to add to the question. Click “Share,” then “embed code,” then “copy,” and then add the code to the field in Terracotta and click “add.” You’ll see your video pop up in the question field, as below.

Once it’s in, add any text, and your answer options. Add other questions, then click “Save & Close.”
