Question types

Question types

When you create an experiment component through the Terracotta Builder, you can choose from 3 types of questions. You can also mix and match question types within assignments. Here’s a breakdown of the three types.

Question Types

Short answer

This question type allows instructors to ask open-ended questions. Instructors type their questions into the field shown in the screenshot below, and it will appear above the answer field for students.

Multiple choice

This question type is suitable for quizzes or surveys with set answers. Instructors type the question into the field shown below, and then type in the answer options. Instructors click the check box to indicate the correct answer, which will turn green in the instructor view when selected.

File submission

This question type allows instructors to request that students submit files of any type, and is suitable for the submission of documents, photos (as in an assignment requesting the upload of notes), or other file types smaller than 10 MB. The instructor can type the question into the field shown below, and it will appear above the upload button in the student view.
